Dehn Honored As Iowa Physician Assistant Of The Year

Richard Dehn, clinical professor and assistant director of the Physician Assistant (PA) Program in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, has been named Physician Assistant of the Year by the Iowa Physician Assistant Society (IPAS). Dehn was honored by the IPAS at its annual continuing medical education conference Oct. 4-6 in Iowa City.

The award recognizes individuals for outstanding care to patients as well as service to the IPAS and the physician assistant profession.

Dehn was cited for his efforts in collecting and analyzing PA workforce data that helps state leaders recognize the roles PAs play in providing a stronger health care system to Iowans. Dehn serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and he also is chair of the research institute for the Physician Assistant Education Association, which helps to improve physician assistant research practices. Dehn also was recognized for his ability to mentor PA students and faculty colleagues in areas of research.
