UI Police Issue Composite Sketch Of Suspected Assailant

University of Iowa police have issued a composite sketch of a man suspected of committing sexual assault against a female student near the Voxman Music Building around 1 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. View the image at http://news-releases.uiowa.edu/2006/november/images/111506composite.jpg

The student, who filed a report with UI Police at 4:01 a.m. Sunday, reported that she was walking near the west bank of the Iowa River near the Voxman Building when she was grabbed from behind and assaulted.

A composite sketch of the suspect was developed based upon interviews with the victim. The victim describes the suspect as a black male, in his 20’s, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 165 pounds, with a muscular build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, black baggy pants, black/white shoes and a red Washington Nationals baseball cap. The suspect may have suffered a laceration to his left hand that may have required treatment.

UI Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in identifying the person. Anyone with information that might aid in the investigation is asked to call 319-335-5022.
