MEDIA ADVISORY: CBRB Dedication Set For March 31
WHAT: A dedication ceremony celebrating the Carver Biomedical Research Building (CBRB) on the UI health sciences campus.
WHEN: 11 a.m. Friday, March 31.
WHERE: The ceremony will take place in the atrium of CBRB (map online at www.uiowa.edu/%7Emaps/c/cbrb1.htm). Parking is available in the Newton Road Parking Ramp across the street from CBRB.
WHO: Scheduled speakers include: Jean Robillard, M.D., dean of the UI Carver College of Medicine; David Skorton, M.D., UI president; Robert Downer, president pro tem of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa; Meredith Hay, Ph.D., UI vice president for research; Paul Rothman, M.D., UI professor and head of internal medicine; Flynn Andrizzi, Ph.D., vice president for medical center development at the UI Foundation; and Troy Ross, Ph.D., executive administrator of the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust in Muscatine, Iowa.
A mult-box will be available to assist those who wish to audio-record the ceremony.
The 135,000-square-foot Carver Biomedical Research Building is the UI Carver College of Medicine's newest structure on the health sciences campus. The building features five floors of research laboratory suites, plus conference rooms and a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) facility, which allows scientists to study the structure and interaction of molecules in a specially designed, controlled environment.
Following the speakers' brief remarks, there will be a reception and tours of the CBRB. Reporters will be able to tour the fourth-floor laboratories of the Iowa Center for Muscular Dystrophy Research as well as the NMR facility, located on the CBRB's lower level.
