March 24 WSUI Reading Features New Anthology, 'Legitimate Dangers'

A reading at 7 p.m. Friday, March 24, on the "Live from Prairie Lights" series on University of Iowa radio station WSUI, AM 910, will feature selections from the new anthology "Legitimate Dangers: American Poets of the New Century."

Julie Englander will host the broadcast, which will originate in a free event in the Prairie Lights bookstore at 15 S. Dubuque St. in downtown Iowa City. Listen on the Internet at wsui.uiowa.edu.

Poets Erica Bernheim, Dan Chiasson, Srikanth Reddy, Robyn Schiff and Emily Wilson will read from the anthology, which was edited by Iowa Writers' Workshop alumni Michael Dumanis and Cate Marvin.

All the 85 poets featured in the anthology were born after 1960 and published their first book within the last 10 years.

A review in Publishers Weekly observed, "this anthology uncaps the concerns of contemporary life, releasing vapors to mix with the contemporary imagination."

The Writers' Workshop is a graduate program in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
