Local Student Participates in Entrepreneurial Conference
(NAME OF STUDENT), a University of Iowa senior from (HOMETOWN), was one of eight University of Iowa seniors participating in the first Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute, July 30 through Aug. 4, at the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory on West Lake Okoboji.
The students attended the institute with 16 students from the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University. The students participated in the advanced study of entrepreneurship, including an entrepreneurial simulation; seminars with successful entrepreneurs, business leaders, and community leaders; and networking to enhance the students' understanding of opportunities in Iowa. Each student received three hours of academic credit for participation in the institute. The Institute was also intended to show the students business development opportunities in rural Iowa, particularly the northwest part of the state.
The Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute is a joint effort of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa; the Iowa Department of Economic Development; the Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Centers at the University of Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University; and the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation.
