New Tennis And Recreation Facility To Open

The new Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex on the west side of the University of Iowa campus will open Monday, July 31.

The facility includes 12 outdoor tennis courts, eight indoor courts, a 2,700-square-foot fitness area -- Fitness West -- and the Touch The Earth Outdoor Rental & Resource Center. An indoor turf field for intramural and club sports will open in the fall, once the turf has been installed. A dedication ceremony also will be held in the fall.

The new facility is located at 2820 Prairie Meadow Drive, between the Hawkeye Recreation Fields and Hawkeye Drive Apartments. The facility is open to the general public, as well as to UI students, faculty and staff. Fitness and tennis users can pay a daily walk-in fee or purchase a pass at a discount.
