UITV To Air Loewenberg Presidential Lecture
University of Iowa Television (UITV) will air the 23rd Presidential Lecture by Gerhard Loewenberg, emeritus professor and UI Foundation Distinguished Professor in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Political Science, several times in February and March.
Additionally, the lecture may be viewed via the Web beginning Feb. 28 at mms://winmedia.uiowa.edu/president/presidential2006.wmv
Loewenberg presented his lecture, "Paradoxes of Legislatures," Feb. 5 at the Levitt Center for University Advancement. Loewenberg, who retired in 2003 after more than 30 years on the political science faculty, explored some apparently contradictory characteristics of legislatures that make them the objects of misunderstanding and often of ridicule.
The lecture will air at the following times and dates:
--Tuesday, Feb. 28: 3 and 7 p.m.
--Wednesday, March 1: 12 midnight and 4 a.m.
--Thursday, March 2: 4, 5 and 9 p.m.
--Friday, March 3: 4:30 p.m.
More information about Loewenberg and his lecture is available online in an earlier news release at http://news-releases.uiowa.edu/2006/january/011806presidential_lecture.html
UITV is seen on channel 4 on campus, channel 17 in Iowa City on Mediacom, and in 33 other communities on Mediacom, McLeod and SouthSlope Cable.
