Auditions Will Be March 5 And 7 For UI New Play Festival 2006
The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will hold general auditions March 5 and 7 for the 2006 edition of its annual Iowa New Play Festival.
The New Play Festival, which spotlights new scripts from the department's master of fine arts playwriting program, the Iowa Playwrights Workshop, will produce a half-dozen new plays, with a premiere each day, May 1-6.
Auditions will be 5-10 p.m. Sunday, March 5, and 7-10 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 in Theatre B of the UI Theatre Building, with callbacks on Wednesday and Thursday, March 8 and 9. An audition sign-up sheet is posted on the Theatre Building callboard.
Auditioners will be asked to make "cold" readings from scripts for the festival's productions. They should arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled time, and should bring a headshot.
No association with the theater department or with the UI is required for participation in Iowa New Play Festival productions. Actors of all ages and levels of experience are encouraged to audition.
For additional information, contact the festival's production stage manager, Becca Sissel, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Department of Theatre Arts is a unit of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
