UI Dance Marathon To Host Family Fun Event

The University of Iowa Dance Marathon will spread holiday cheer to children and their families receiving treatment at Children's Hospital of Iowa within University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Science Station in Cedar Rapids.

Families will experience a day full of hands-on fun at the Science Station. The museum has more than 100 interactive exhibits designed to teach youngsters about science phenomena, from dinosaurs to electricity. Participants can also view the holiday favorite "The Polar Express" on the giant IMAX screen.

More than 200 families have signed up to explore exhibits and get a visit from Santa. Family Programming Director Justin Bedi said this year's event is the biggest to date. "I'm looking forward to the winter event because it's our biggest one ever, and I just know the kids are going to have a blast," Bedi added.

UI Dance Marathon members work in association with Children's Miracle Network, a fundraising partner of Children's Hospital of Iowa. The UI Dance Marathon is the largest Children's Miracle Network-associated dance marathon in the nation and focuses on regional children and families who are facing pediatric cancer.
