UI Graduate College Awards Sanxay Prize

The University of Iowa Graduate College has awarded UI senior Evonne Smith the Sanxay Prize, which is awarded annually to a senior in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who shows promise of high achievement in graduate studies and who is an Iowa native. It includes $1,000 to be used for graduate school at the UI or any other accredited university in the United States or abroad.

Smith, a native of Miles and a 2002 graduate of East Central High School, will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She will begin graduate work in clinical psychology at Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University in the fall. Smith is the daughter of Dianna Foster of Maquoketa and Lanny Smith of Sabula.

Smith was honored at the Graduate Honors Award Ceremony on April 23.
