Loras College To Hold Its First Dance Marathon

Loras College will hold its first Dance Marathon April 22-23 to benefit the Children's Miracle Network.

College students will seek pledges to stay awake and dance throughout the Dance Marathon beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 22, and ending at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 23.

"We are very excited to be planning our first Dance Marathon," said Maria Koeppel, Loras College Dance Marathon chairperson. "We are truly looking forward to our first experience with this very special event."

Loras College will be the third college in Iowa to participate in this fundraiser, along with Iowa State University and the University of Iowa.

This event is being coordinated as part of the Lead 4 Loras program, an initiative designed to provide ongoing leadership development and support to students. One aspect of this program focuses specifically on the foundations of philanthropy and citizenship.

"We decided that the Dance Marathon fits perfectly with these foundations," said Kimberly Walsh, director of Student Life at Loras College and adviser to Dance Marathon. "We are delighted to have this opportunity to help support patients and their families at Children's Hospital of Iowa."

Students will be seeking donations through April 22. For more information, please contact the Loras College Dance Marathon office at 563-588-7004. For more information about the efforts of Dance Marathon visit www.dancemarathon.org
