Tickets For 'Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know?' On Sale April 17

Tickets go on sale Monday, April 17, for an Iowa City performance of the popular comedy radio quiz show "Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know?" and are available by calling the Hancher box office at 335-1160 or 1-800-HANCHER.

Iowa Public Radio stations WSUI and KSUI will host "Whad'Ya Know?" June 3 at 9:30 a.m. at Hancher Auditorium. Currently broadcast on 300 stations across the United States, the weekly show produced by Wisconsin Public Radio reaches more than 1.3 million listeners every week.

WSUI 910 AM began airing the program in 1988 and its popularity has never ceased. WSUI Program Director Dennis Reese says, "Many listeners have told me they've driven to Madison to see the show live, so we're glad to be able to offer that experience right here in town. And because Michael pays so much attention to the places he visits, it's a great way to bring a sample of Iowa to listeners across the country."

Regular elements of every program include a "Whad'Ya Know?" quiz in each hour, Feldman's foray into the live studio audience to chat with fans, jazz with John Thulin and the "Whad'Ya Know?" Band, and banter with sidekick Jim Packard. During the hourly Quiz, host and quizmaster Michael Feldman invites callers and audience members to test their knowledge from five categories drawn from Feldman's seemingly limitless store of insignificant (but also somehow, important) information.

When taking the show "on the road," which Feldman does eight times each year; the program guests and features reflect the hosting community. "All The News That Isn't" takes on a local flair, as do Feldman's interviews with celebrities and regular folks native to the area. Often local musicians complete the guest line-up for these fan-favorite "road shows."

WSUI/KSUI hosted an Iowa City broadcast of the program in 2000, which included such notables as musician Bo Ramsey, poet Marvin Bell and Frank Conroy, the late director of the Iowa Writers' Workshop.

More information on the Iowa City show's line-up will be made available as the June 3 show gets closer.

"Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know?" is distributed nationally by Public Radio International and made possible in part by Boca Foods.

Tickets range from $27-$37. The "Whad'Ya Know?" Hancher performance benefits WSUI/KSUI Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Radio. For more information visit www.wsui.uiowa.edu.
