Women's Center Annual Spaghetti Dinner Oct. 7
The Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) will hold its annual spaghetti dinner 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City. The church is located at 310 North Johnson St., at the corner of Johnson and Bloomington.
The dinner raises funds to support WRAC's services, which include support groups, counseling, activist training programs, information and referral, and educational workshops.
The presenting sponsor for this year's fundraising dinner is Zio Johno's Spaghetti House, which has catered the event each year since its inception.
"Zio Johno's financial sponsorship is a big boost toward our $5,000 fundraising goal, which is vital in supporting our work," said WRAC Director Monique DiCarlo. "The dinner helps fund the center's important services such as support groups, counseling, activist training programs, information and referral and educational workshops."
"This event is so much fun," said Niru Narayan, University of Iowa student and WRAC Advisory Board member. "We appreciate the community support and hope everyone realizes the great financial and emotional boost it gives us when they attend the event."
The dinner menu includes spaghetti with vegetarian sauce, bread, salad and dessert. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Included with a dinner ticket is a chance to enter into the event's famous door prize drawing supported by donations from over 20 local businesses. New this year are four silent auction packages that include a romantic night out, a family outing, personal care package and a sports package. Tickets are available for advance purchase at the Women's Center (130 N. Madison Street); they will also be available at the door.
