Make-A-Wish Children To Attend Iowa, UNI Football Game Sept. 17
A group of 16 eastern Iowa children in the Make-A-Wish program will have the chance to enjoy an exciting University of Iowa football weekend on Saturday, Sept. 17, as part of the University of Iowa Alumni Association's (UIAA) S.T.A.T Ambassadors' Annual Game Day event.
The day will begins with a tailgate party at the UI Field House, North Gym. The children and their families will have the chance to meet Herky and members of the cheerleading squad. After the game, members of the UI football team and coaching staff will visit with the Make-A-Wish children and sign autographs. They will also enjoy food provided by Hy-Vee, play games provided by Big Ten Rental and receive prizes and gifts compliments of area businesses.
The UIAA S.T.A.T Ambassadors and University of Iowa Sports Marketing, who work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to provide children the chance to see an Iowa football game and to meet coaches and players, organized the event.
Game Day has been recognized as a Program of the Year by the District V Association of Student Advancement Program (ASAP), which is a program for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) that seeks to promote the involvement of students in alumni relations, communications, and philanthropy.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to providing activities for terminally and severely ill children and their families.
Major sponsors of Game Day include: the University of Iowa Alumni Association, the UIAA S.T.A.T. Ambassadors, University of Iowa Athletics, Hy-Vee, Cookies by Design, Aero Rental, Carousel Motor, Old Capital Screen Printers, KCJJ Radio. Other sponsors include: University Book Store & Hawk Shop, Coral Ridge Mall, Signs & Screen Printers, Sweets & Treats, Pizza Pit, Riverside Theatre, Iowa House, Sheraton, Crystal Clear, Godfather's Pizza, Pagliai's Pizza, Whitey's Ice Cream and Lenoch & Cilek Ace Hardware.
