UPDATE: The location of the journalism roundtable featuring New Yorker staff writer and investigative reporter Seymour Hersh has been changed. Instead of the Englert Theatre, the event will be held in the Main Ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union. Also the Oct. 18 screening of "Stay" is at 8 p.m.
The New Yorker College Tour Brings Luminaries To UI
The pages of The New Yorker magazine will come to life when The New Yorker College tour hits the University of Iowa for three days of readings, films and performances October 17-19.
Among the writers, journalists, critics and entertainers on the tour are the Second City comedy troupe, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, short story writer Lorrie Moore, humorist Andy Borowitz and film director Marc Forster. The New Yorker Lounge will also be set up in the IMU basement, Terrace Lobby and Hubbard Park featuring numerous interactive activities, a display of New Yorker cartoons and opportunities to meet with The New Yorker staff.

Monday, Oct. 17
Searching for the Story, noon, Terrace Room -- A conversation among New Yorker reporters Jane Mayer, George Packer and Mark Singer. Moderated by The New Yorker's features editor, Daniel Zalewski.
Fiction readings, 7 p.m., Richey Ballroom -- New Yorker fiction writer Lorrie Moore and New Yorker poet Vijay Seshadri read from their work and talk with The New Yorker's fiction editor, Cressida Leyshon.
Unscripted Comedy and Conversation. 9 p.m., Englert Theatre -- An evening with the cast of The Second City comedy theatre, hosted by New Yorker humor writer Andy Borowitz.
Tuesday, Oct. 18th
Standup comedy, noon, Java House -- Lunchtime standup comedy with New Yorker humor writer and CNN commentator Andy Borowitz.
Investigative journalism roundtable, 6 p.m., IMU Main Ballroom -- New Yorker staff writer and investigative reporter Seymour M. Hersh talks with professor Stephen J. Berry, associate professor of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Film screening, "Stay," 8 p.m., Hancher Auditorium -- Preview screening of the new film "Stay," followed by a conversation with the director Marc Forster ("Finding Neverland" and "Monster's Ball") and the New Yorker editor Ben Greenman.
Wednesday, Oct. 19th
Everyone's a Critic, noon, Terrace Room. -- New Yorker critics Nancy Franklin (television), Sasha Frere-Jones (pop music) and Alex Ross (music), moderated by Professor Donald G. McLeese, associate professor of Journalism and Mass Communication, discuss their work.
Cartooning discussion, 7 p.m., Terrace Room -- The New Yorker's cartoon editor Robert Mankoff talks about the art of cartooning.
The Graphic Novel, 9 p.m., Main Lounge -- Graphic novelists Adrian Tomine and Chris Ware talk with The New Yorker's illustrations editor Owen Phillips.
