UI Book Store Moves To Temporary Location In Main Lounge
The University of Iowa Bookstore has moved to its temporary quarters in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union, where it will remain until next summer.
The move is required because the store's permanent location in the lower level of the IMU is being renovated. George Herbert, bookstore director, expects the store will return to its newly renovated lower level location by August 2006.
Herbert said the temporary location will have much of the same merchandise, including textbooks, art and school supplies, gifts, cards, Hawkeye apparel and souvenirs for sale.
The Book Store renovation is part of an overall $9.9 million renovation of the IMU that will add approximately 13,000 square feet of space to the building and make it more functional and useful for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Construction is expected to be completed in January 2007.
