UI Libraries Moves Government Publications Desk
The University of Iowa Libraries' Government Publications desk will move to the main reference desk on the first floor of the Main Library as of May 17, so users who want access to the libraries' government publications collection should now visit the reference desk.
The consolidation of reference and information services is being done to improve access to government information, said UI Librarian Nancy Baker, and to have amore professionally trained librarians available in a single location to strengthen services for both general reference and government information.
Much of the government publications collection will still be housed on the third floor of the Main Library, and the reading room will be accessible to the public. The libraries' maps collection will also remain on the third floor. The Government Publications microfiche and electronic media will be located on the first floor after the consolidation.
