Last Of Four UI Ombudsperson Finalists On Campus This Week
The last of four finalists for the University of Iowa Ombudsperson position is on campus today and Tuesday for interviews and an open forum.
Laura Reed, associate director of human resources and director of organizational effectiveness at the UI, will hold a forum at 3:30 p.m. today (Monday, May 16) in the Iowa Memorial Union's Terrace Room.
Three other finalists -- Cynthia Joyce of New Haven, Conn., Rita Burns of Milwaukee and Andrea Goldblum of Decatur, Ga. -- have already interviewed on campus.
In her current position at the UI, Reed provides leadership for initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness. From 1999 to 2003 she was assistant director of human resources and director of WorkLife at the UI.
Reed holds a master of business administration degree from the UI's Executive MBA program, a master of science in nursing with an emphasis on human resource management from the UI, a bachelor of science in nursing from Coe College and a diploma in nursing from Finley Hospital School of Nursing in Dubuque.
The four finalists are being considered for a vacancy that will be left when Maile Sagen, who has held the position since 1989, retires in July. The UI Ombudsperson's Office offers informal dispute resolution for students, faculty and staff, and complaints to the office are confidential. The office's mission is to see that all members of the university community are treated fairly, as well as to serve as an information resource.
