UI To Confer Degrees In Commencement Exercises

The University of Iowa will confer degrees on more than 4,200 graduates during commencement ceremonies that begin with the College of Pharmacy on May 12.

Bachelor's degrees will be awarded by UI President David Skorton Saturday, May 14, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. President Skorton will also confer degrees to graduates of the nursing, engineering and business colleges.

The complete commencement schedule is listed below.

Thursday, May 12

College of Pharmacy: 10 a.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 105. Degrees will be conferred by Provost Michael Hogan.

Friday, May 13

Tippie School of Management (MBA program): 10 a.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 240. Degrees will be conferred by Phillip Jones, vice president for student services and dean of students.

Carver College of Medicine: 7:30 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 165. Degrees will be conferred by Provost Hogan.

Saturday, May 14

College of Liberal Arts & Sciences/Education: 9 a.m., Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Number of degrees to be conferred: 1,800. Degrees will be conferred by University of Iowa President David Skorton.

Tippie College of Business: 9 a.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 510. Degrees will be conferred by Associate Provost Lola Lopes.

College of Law: 1 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 225. Degrees will be conferred by University of Iowa General Counsel Mark Schantz.

Graduate College: 3 p.m., Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Number of degrees to be conferred: 825. Degrees will be conferred by Provost Hogan.

College of Nursing: 5 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 155. Degrees conferred by Vice President Jones.

Sunday, May 15

College of Engineering: 1 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 160. Degrees will be conferred by Associate Provost Thomas Rocklin.

Friday, June 3

College of Dentistry: 3 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 70. Degrees will be conferred by President Skorton.

Commencement ceremonies of the following colleges are open to the public:  Law; Pharmacy; Henry B. Tippie School of Management; Carver College of Medicine; Liberal Arts and Sciences; Nursing; Dentistry and Engineering. For the Henry B. Tippie College of Business commencement, guests must obtain tickets from a graduating student.

All 10 commencement ceremonies will be broadcast live on UITV as well streamed over the Internet at UITV's website. UITV will also replay commencement ceremonies at a later date.
