Painter Bruce Tapola Will Discuss His Works At UI March 10
Painter and installation artist Bruce Tapola from St. Paul, Minn., will present a slide lecture on his works at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10 in Room E109 of the University of Iowa Art Building
Tapola received his bachelor's degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and went on to receive his master's from Montana State University in Bozeman. His work has been featured in exhibitions at the Milwaukee Institute of Art, CSPS in Cedar Rapids, the Minneapolis Institute of Art and an unsanctioned show, "Convoy," in a rented U-Haul parked in front of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
His recent exhibitions include shows at Locust Projects in Miami and Franklin Artworks in Minneapolis, as well as "I'm with Stupid," a collaborative installation he did with his wife, Melba Price, and his daughter, Oakley Tapola, at SOOVAC, a non-profit alternative space in Minneapolis. He received the McKnight Foundation Visual Arts Fellowship for 1999/2000. He currently serves on the faculty at St. Cloud University in Minnesota.
