University Of Iowa Health Care Projects Win National Awards
Seven different projects or publications produced by the Joint Office for Marketing and Communications (JOMC) at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics received awards in regional and national competitions for work completed in 2004.
"The Academic Difference," a TV/radio/print/Web campaign, received a Gold ADDY award from the Advertising Federation of Cedar Rapids.
Silver ADDY awards went to:
--"Changing Kids' Lives," a CD-ROM mailed to referring physicians announcing the opening of the new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital of Iowa.
--"Finding Your Way," a hospital way-finding brochure.
--"UI Hospitals and Clinics Annual Report: Pursing Excellence."
--"Taking Health Care to Wonderful New Levels," a four-color brochure for the opening of the new Labor and Delivery and Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
"Compass," a monthly staff newsletter, received an Award of Excellence in the 2005 Ragan Communications Recognition Awards in the "best recurring column/feature" category for the following columns: "Newsworthy," "Changing Medicine. Changing Lives." and "Closeup."
"UI Hospitals Annual Report: Pursuing Excellence" received an Award of Merit in competition sponsored by the Pacific Plains division (Midwest and West Coast) of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The same "Annual Report" and "PACEMAKER" magazine also received Bronze Quill Awards of Excellence from the Iowa chapter of IABC.
JOMC staff members involved in these winning projects included Amy Austin, Tom Buchheim, Clancy Champanois, Dan Fischer, Cheryl Hodgson, Jim Hollensbe, Heather Hyatt, Craig Jarvie, Rita Liddell, Tom Moore, Lee Ann Williams, Michael Sondergard and Jane Zukin. Co-directors of JOMC are Diana Lundell and Stacy McGauvran-Hruby. Bryan Sheeley from Creative Media Group at the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine assisted with the CD-ROM in "The Academic Difference." Other partners in these projects included the Storandt Pann Margolis marketing and communications agency from LaGrange, Ill., designer Robyn Hepker of Benson & Hepker Design in Iowa City and photographer Doug Benton of fisheye in Hiawatha, Iowa.
