Poet Michael Dennis Browne Reads June 28 On WSUI
Poet Michael Dennis Browne, a University of Iowa alumnus who has returned to teach in the Iowa Summer Writing Festival, will read from his newest collection, "The Things I Can't Tell You," at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, on the "Live from Prairie Lights" series on University of Iowa radio station WSUI, AM 910. The reading, hosted by Julie Englander, will be a free event in the Prairie Lights bookstore at 15 S. Dubuque St. in downtown Iowa City.
Browne, a professor of English and creative writing at the University of Minnesota, won the Minnesota Book Award for poetry in 1998.
He is the author of six poetry collections, and his poems have been published in magazines and anthologies including TriQuarterly, the Iowa Review, the New Yorker and the American Poetry Review. As a librettist, he has written many texts for music, working principally with composers Stephen Paulus and John Foley.
