Public Invited To View 'Aging In America' Documentary
The Medical Museum and Project Art at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will offer a free community screening of the documentary film, "Aging in America: The Years Ahead" from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 13.
A discussion facilitated by Connie Benton Wolfe, executive director of United Way of Johnson County, will follow the screening. The event will occur in the East Room of the Joyce P. Summerwill Patient and Visitor Activities Center on the eighth floor of the John Colloton Pavilion. Take Elevator F to access the location.
This film and its companion book and black-and-white photography exhibit are the result of seven years of fieldwork by the internationally acclaimed team of writer and filmmaker Julie Winokur and photographer Ed Kashi. They traveled across the country, collecting scores of personal histories that, when taken collectively, challenge the culture of aging in America.
Kashi's photography exhibit is also on display from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily through June 20. Major sponsors of this exhibit include Roger A. Fox, Bickford Cottage, Iowa State Bank and Trust Company, and Volunteer Services at UI Hospitals and Clinics.
