UI Family Care - Southeast Iowa City Offers MR Service
The Department of Radiology at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and UI Hospitals and Clinics recently opened a Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging Center at UI Family Care - Southeast Iowa City, located at 1130 Scott Blvd.
The new service complements existing MR services at UI Hospitals and Clinics by offering MR imaging in an outpatient setting. The MR unit installed at the clinic in southeast Iowa City is a state-of-the-art, high-resolution, 1.5 Tesla magnet system, capable of performing a variety of MR imaging studies. Its new location enhances patient convenience and expert interpretation by UI subspecialty radiologists.
Highly trained MR technologists from the MR Center at UI Hospitals and Clinics are staffing the new MR center on a rotating basis. Examinations will be performed using the same disease-specific protocols used at the main campus, assuring high-quality diagnostic examinations. Studies will be transferred digitally to sub-specialty trained Carver College of Medicine faculty radiologists at UI Hospitals and Clinics for same day interpretation.
Clinic hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a total capacity for 12 patients per day. Appointments may be scheduled by calling the MRI scheduling number at 319-384-9799.
All types of otolaryngologic, neurologic and orthopaedic examinations can be performed on this scanner, with the exception of wrist and TMJ studies. The scanner also performs MR angiography of the extremities and neck.
