MEDIA ADVISORY: Tom Arnold To Hold Press Conference At UI
A press conference with actor and comedian Tom Arnold will be held Wednesday, July 20, at 2 p.m. in The Wheelroom in the basement of the Iowa Memorial Union.
Arnold will host a free screening of his new movie, "Happy Endings," at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union. The film is rated R, so those under 17 will not be admitted without a parent or guardian.
Arnold's performance in the movie has been singled out for praise by critics. Roger Ebert said he is one of the film's bright spots, and the New York Times called his performance "wonderfully poignant." Directed by Don Roos, "Happy Endings" tells multiple stories of people coming together in Los Angeles. Arnold plays the father of a gay teenage son whose girlfriend is also seducing him.
The film and Arnold's visit is presented by the UI Lecture Committee, The Bijou and the James Gang as a promotional event for the new Saturday Night Free Movie Series, a collection of free outdoor movies open to the community held on Saturday nights on the University of Iowa Pentacrest.
Arnold will also be on hand to participate in a question and answer session with the audience immediately following the screening.
