Ferguson Appointed President-Elect Of Medical Education Research Society

A University of Iowa medical education expert has been appointed president-elect of the Society of Directors of Research in Medical Education (SDRME), effective July 1.

Kristi Ferguson, Ph.D., director since 1996 of the Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education in the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, was named to the SDRME leadership position at the organization's June 19-22 meeting in Blaine, Wash.

Ferguson will serve as president of SDRME for one year, beginning July 1, 2006. She previously served two years as treasurer of the organization.

The Society of Directors of Research in Medical Education is composed of directors of units responsible for educational research, evaluation and program development. The organization promotes research in medical education, collaboration and professional development and also seeks to influence national medical education research policy. SDRME includes 75 representatives from medical schools in the United States, Canada and several other countries.
