UI Law Organization Helps With Souper Bowl Fundraiser
The University of Iowa Organization for Women Law Students and Staff (OWLSS) are donating more than $300 and bowls for the Eighth Annual Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) Souper Bowl fund-raising event on Thursday, Feb. 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Coralville.
The OWLSS were inspired to support DVIP as their service project following a presentation last year by UI Legal Clinic Professor and DVIP board member Lois Cox. This is the group's second year supporting the DVIP Souper Bowl. OWLSS members volunteering at the event will be joined by UI medical students.
Tickets to the Souper bowl are $15 and available at the door. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Fired Up in Iowa City, Hills Bank and Trust Coralville branch and Iowa State Bank and Trust Keokuk Street branch. Music will be performed by Eufouria Jazz Quartet. Kids eat for free if they do not want to take a bowl home. All money raised goes to support DVIP services for the community. Call 351-1042 ext. 112 for information about the Souper Bowl.
DVIP is a United Way agency and relies on private donations to provide services to children and adults affected by violence.
DVIP provided counseling and shelter services to more than 1,000 adults and children last year. Confidential information and assistance is available 24 hours a day at 319-351-1043 or toll free at 1-800-373-1043.
