Local Student To Take Part In 'Operation Diabetes'
(Student name) of (hometown) is one of 27 University of Iowa College of Pharmacy students participating in "Operation Diabetes," a nationwide effort to identify individuals at high risk of developing diabetes.
"Operation Diabetes" was launched by the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) and is sponsored by Rite Aid. In addition to identifying individuals who have high blood glucose levels, the promotional campaign is designed to increase awareness of diabetes and the dangers associated with the disease.
(Student last name), along with other UI pharmacy students who are members of APhA-ASP, has been trained to administer the blood glucose screenings. The screenings, which begin Feb. 22, will take place at pharmacies in Iowa City and Coralville and continue through April.
