Know the Score Live! Celebrates Grant Wood in Cedar Rapids
KSUI's "Know the Score LIVE!" returns to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (CRMA) for a live broadcast on Friday, Sept. 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to celebrate the opening of "Grant Wood at 5 Turner Alley."
This major exhibition, organized by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, draws on its collection of more than 200 works by Cedar Rapids native Grant Wood. Major paintings and drawings will be on loan from other major American museums and private collections, including Wood's most famous work, American Gothic from the Art Institute of Chicago.
Host Joan Kjaer will speak with guests including the Director of the CRMA Terence Pitts, curator Jane Milosch, Grant Wood expert Wanda Corn from Stanford University, Red Cedar Chamber Music and composer Andrew Simpson, and Thomas Hoving, the former director of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The program will also include music composed for the exhibition.
The public is invited to attend the free broadcast at the CRMA located at 410 Third Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids or hear the show on KSUI at 91.7 FM or in streaming audio on the KSUI website www.ksui.uiowa.edu.
"Know the Score" is KSUI's locally produced arts and humanities series and live broadcasts are sponsored by the University of Iowa Alumni Association. KSUI Classical Radio is a listener-supported service of the University of Iowa.
