UI Math Department Holds Annual Minority Student Picnic Aug. 27
The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Mathematics will hold its fifth annual minority graduate and professional students picnic at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 in the Wheel Room of the Iowa Memorial Union on the UI Campus.
The picnic, featuring food and a Step Show Exhibition, is co-sponsored by the department, the Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP), the Black Graduate and Professional Students (BGAPS), the Black Student Union, the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), Opportunity at Iowa, the Graduate College, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Student Services and Bethel AME Church. The free public event is a student social event, as well as a celebration of the department's success in achieving a diverse and inclusive graduate student community, which, with an enrollment consisting of about 25 percent U.S. minority students, is one of the most diverse in the country.
