Langbehn To Lead Iowa Academy Of Family Physicians
Susan Langbehn, M.D., an assistant professor (clinical) in the Department of Family Medicine in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, was named president of the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) Aug. 12 during its annual meeting in Des Moines.
Langbehn earned her medical degree at the UI in 1990 and completed her medical residency at UI Hospitals and Clinics in 1993. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. Her clinical and research interests include family-centered maternity care, pediatrics and women's health.
IAFP is a statewide professional association, founded in 1948. The organization is comprised of more than 90 percent of Iowa's doctors who specialize in family medicine, the medical specialty that is concerned with the total health care of the individual and family. IAFP is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, based in Leawood, Kan.
