Women's Center Sponsors Annual Fall Open House
In conjunction with the beginning of the new academic year and the University of Iowa's "Weeks of Welcome" program, the Women's Resource & Action Center will sponsor its annual Open House from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24.
During the Open House there will be tours of the building, refreshments, and opportunities to meet staff members and volunteers and to learn about the services and activities offered by the center. The Center is located at 130 N. Madison St. directly across from the Iowa Memorial Union, and is wheelchair accessible.
Founded in 1971, The Women's Resource & Action Center is one of the oldest university-based women's centers in the United States. Among its services -- which are available both to UI students, faculty and staff and to the general public -- are information and referral, advocacy, support and discussion groups, individual counseling and a variety of educational programs including seminars, workshops, festivals and discussions.
More information about the Center and its upcoming activities is available on the web at http://www.uiowa.edu/~wrac.
This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend. Call 335-1486 should you require an accommodation to participate.
