Folk Singer Ben Schmidt Performs On 'Talk of Iowa' Radio Program Aug. 19
Folk singer/songwriter Ben Schmidt returns to the "Talk of Iowa" radio program Aug. 19 for a full hour of live music and conversation to introduce his second album "While You Were Sleeping."
The program, produced by the University of Iowa public radio station WSUI-AM 910, is broadcast live on public radio affiliates throughout Iowa. The public is invited to join the audience for this 10 a.m. live broadcast at The Java House in downtown Iowa City.
Schmidt is self-taught and has been playing guitar for 20 years and writing songs since he was 15. The landscapes of his songs draw equally from his upbringing in Chicago and his current home in Iowa City.
Every Friday morning at 10 a.m., "Talk of Iowa Live from The Java House" offers an eclectic variety of topics and guests for its listeners. Host Ben Kieffer moderates the mix of lively discussion, drama and live music drawn from a rich pool of intellectual, artistic and tuneful talent.
The "Talk of Iowa" show can be heard on WSUI AM 910 from Iowa City/Cedar Rapids, WOI AM 640 from Ames/Des Moines, KTPR - FM 91.1 from Fort Dodge, KOWI FM 97.9 from Lamoni and KWOI FM 90.7 from Carroll. The broadcast can also be heard in streaming audio at http://wsui.uiowa.edu/ by clicking on "Listen to WSUI"; it is rebroadcast on WSUI at 10 p.m. Fridays.
