Corrected: Natural History Museum Offers Children's Workshop Aug. 20
The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History will offer a workshop for children ages four through six at 10:30 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. The program -- "Those Squirrels Are Nuts!" -- is open to the public, but registration and a fee are required.
Program hosts will remove squirrels, chipmunks and prairie dogs from their museum display cases for a close-up look by children enrolled in the 90-minute class. The complete program will also include the study of specimens from the museum's skin and skeleton collection. A film, art project, story time and a museum tour will round out the activities.
Program enrollment is limited to 15 students per session, and the program fee is $10. Registration by mail or in person is required prior to Saturday, Aug. 20.
