UI Student Gains Experience Through Internship
Jill Bader, a University of Iowa student from Keota, Iowa, enhanced her college education with a teaching assistant internship arranged through the UI Career Center.
Bader, an elementary education major specializing in early childhood education, worked as an intern at the Good Shepard Child Care Center in Iowa City from summer 2004 to spring 2005.
"Working at Good Shepard has showed me how much responsibility I will have in the teaching field, doing weekly themes and everyday curriculum. I have made so many great 'young' friends and loved every minute of my job," Bader said. "This internship has made me realize that being an educator is the most rewarding job anyone could have.
The UI Career Center is a campus resource that helps students find internship opportunities to apply their skills at a variety of organizations and businesses. Participants in internship programs are able to gain new perspectives on potential careers as they acclimate to a professional work environment.
