Professor To Discuss Development Of Influenza Vaccine
Dr. Michael A. Apicella, professor and chair of the Department of Microbiology in the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, will discuss, "The Prevention of the Plague of the Spanish Lady; The Development of the Influenza Vaccine," as part of a series of presentations sponsored by the University of Iowa History of Medicine Society.
The presentation will take place in room 401 of the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences on Thursday, April 28, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is invited; light refreshments will be served.
Apicella is an expert on influenza, and the long-range goal of his research is to understand the factors involved in influenza infections in order to develop methods of prevention either by vaccination or chemotherapy.
