Annual Healthcare Executive Symposium Set For Oct. 15

The University of Iowa will host the 26th Annual Iowa Healthcare Executive Symposium Oct. 15 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Iowa City. The annual event features national leaders in the field of health care addressing topics of current interest. This year's symposium is titled, "Thriving in the New Millennium: Successful Strategies for Healthcare Organizations in a Rapidly Changing Environment."

"We hope our annual symposium will contribute to participants' efforts to maintain professional development and provide an environment that supports peer interaction and relationship building," said Douglas Wakefield, Ph.D., chair of the symposium planning committee and UI professor and head of health management and policy.

The featured speakers will include David B. Nash, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Health Policy at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pa.; Gary A. Mecklenburg, president and chief executive officer of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare in Chicago, Ill.; Carmela Coyle, Ph.D., senior vice president for policy with the American Hospital Association in Washington, D.C.; and Julie MacDonald, senior vice president-patient care services and chief operating officer for St. Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, Mich.
