Children's Hospital Of Iowa Wins 'Presidential' Election On Web
Children's Hospital of Iowa specialists announced today that its entry in the STARBRIGHT World "Presidential" election garnered the most votes and won election as the best web site of all the network's member hospitals.
STARBRIGHT World's private and secure interactive network links hospitalized children across the nation. Children's Hospital of Iowa began offering ill children the opportunity to engage in STARBRIGHT World during their hospital stays in March 2000.
STARBRIGHT World sites across the United States participated in the election this past summer. Children's Hospital of Iowa won the popular vote, with William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. winning the Vice President post. As the winning site, Children's Hospital of Iowa received a Game Cube system and 50 games for patients and families to enjoy.
"This was just a fun opportunity for our patients, families and staff to join together and throw their support behind a very strong candidate," said Lisa Miguel, a specialist with the Child Life staff in Children's Hospital of Iowa. "It was really great to see their enthusiasm and how much they enjoyed the process."
The participation of Children's Hospital of Iowa in STARBRIGHT World is supported through a generous gift from the Kohl's Cares for Kids Program.
