Snetselaar Obesity Lecture To Air On UITV Week Of Sept. 6
University of Iowa Television (UITV) will broadcast a tape of the UI College of Public Health's 2004-2005 Distinguished Faculty Lecture, "Obesity: The Way We Eat Now," several times during the week of Sept. 6.
The lecture, by Linda G. Snetselaar, Ph.D., UI associate professor of epidemiology and UI Endowed Chair of Preventive Nutrition, was delivered Aug. 26 on the UI campus. Snetselaar discussed how Iowa's obesity rate compares to that of other states, suggested future directions for treating obesity and highlighted creative interventions that focus on prevention. She also reviewed current dieting fads and addressed the importance of individuals in changing the public health of Iowa and the nation.
Scheduled UITV broadcast times for the lecture are: Monday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 2 a.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Sept. 9, at 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m.; and Friday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The program will also air on Monday, Sept. 13, at 12:01 a.m.
UITV broadcasts on channel 17 on the Mediacom cable television system in Iowa City and on channel 4 on the campus cable/dormitory system. UITV also is available in Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities. Programs include foreign language news broadcasts from some 30 countries and a variety of programming produced by members of the UI community.
