Editor, Political Analyst William Kristol To Deliver UI Lecture
William Kristol, editor and publisher of The Weekly Standard and Fox News political analyst, will examine the results of this year's election when he speaks at the University of Iowa on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union. Admission to Kristol's lecture, "Looking Back: Election 2004," is free and open to the public.
"We are excited for the visit of such an influential thinker and look forward to the dialogue that his visit will facilitate," said Mark Simons, event coordinator for the UI Lecture Committee that is sponsoring Kristol's appearance. While at Iowa, Kristol will also participate in a classroom visit and discussion with UI journalism students.
Kristol is a renowned political analyst and conservative columnist and a regular guest on Fox News Sunday and on the Fox News Channel. Before starting The Weekly Standard in 1995, Mr. Kristol led the Project for the Republican Future, playing a key role in the fight against the Clinton health care plan and helping shape the strategy that produced the 1994 Republican Congressional victory. He is the author of the recent New York Times bestseller The War Over Iraq: America's Mission and Saddam's Tyranny. Prior to coming to Washington, D.C. Kristol taught politics at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
