Collective Bargaining Between Regents, COGS Begins Oct. 26
Collective bargaining between the union representing University of Iowa graduate teaching and research assistants and the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, will begin with two public meetings Oct. 26 and Nov. 9. Both meetings will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Indiana Room, Room 346 of the Iowa Memorial Union on the UI campus.
As required by Iowa law, representatives of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America, Local 896-COGS, will present their initial offer regarding wages and benefits for the 2005-06 fiscal year at the first meeting.
The Board of Regents negotiators will present their initial offer at the second meeting.
Subsequent meetings between the two sides will be closed to the public and the news media, as allowed by law.
