UITV To Broadcast Skorton Keynote Address
University of Iowa Television (UITV) will rebroadcast UI President David Skorton's Oct. 13 annual keynote address six times next week.
The lecture, whose theme was "Engagement," will air Monday, Oct. 18 at 3 and 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 19 at midnight and 10 p.m.; Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 3 a.m.; and Friday, Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Skorton's address focuses on the importance of engaging the public through outreach, not only in terms of traditional concepts of "service" in the university, but in everything the university does including teaching and research. A copy of the speech is available online at http://www.uiowa.edu/president/speeches/keynote_101304.html.
Skorton initiated the President's Keynote in Fall 2003 as a way to set the dominant tone for the academic year ahead.
