Artist Kee-ho Yuen Will Present 'Gallery Talk' Oct. 28
The University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) will host "Art Faculty Gallery Talk with Kee-ho Yuen," a free discussion by Yuen on his work in "Faculty Exhibition 2004," at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28.
"Faculty Exhibition 2004" is a show of new work by faculty from the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History. The exhibition opened at the UIMA on Friday, Oct. 15 and will be on view in the museum's newly renovated North Gallery through Saturday, Dec. 11.
Yuen is an associate professor of jewelry and metal arts at the UI. He received his bachelor's degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1983 and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the UI in 1989. He has been at the UI since 2000.
Yuen's work has been exhibited internationally.
"I use my work," Yuen has said, "to express a variety of thoughts that are based on actual experiences."
Art works for "Faculty Exhibition 2004" were selected by 31 faculty members to represent the best of their recent work. These works represent media taught in the UI School of Art and Art History: printmaking, painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, metalsmithing, jewelry, design, papermaking and intermedia.
The UI Museum of Art, located on North Riverside Drive in Iowa City, is open noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Admission is free. Public metered parking is available in UI parking lots west and north of the museum.
