Mount Mercy Faculty Member Vermillion Reads From New Novel Oct. 25

Mary Vermillion, a faculty member at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids and an alumna of the University of Iowa, will read from her new detective novel, "Death by Discount," at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, on the "Live from Prairie Lights" series on UI radio station WSUI, AM 910.

The reading, hosted by Julie Englander, will be a free event at the Prairie Lights bookstore at 15 S. Dubuque St. in downtown Iowa City. Listen on the Internet at <http://wsui.uiowa.edu>.

Vermillion's detective, Mara Gilgannon, takes on her hometown Wal-Mart after the mysterious death of her Aunt Glad.

Vermillion is a member of Sisters in Crime, and her writing has appeared in "Birthday Blessings" and "Testimonies: Lesbian and Bisexual Coming-Out Stories."
