UI Dance Department Presents Student Choreography Dec. 2-4
The University of Iowa Dance Department will present a concert of choreography by undergraduate and graduate students at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 2-4 in the Space/Place Theatre of UI North Hall.
The works were selected by a faculty adjudication committee -- Charlotte Adams, Deanna Carter and Jennifer Kayle -- in recent auditions.
The concert will feature:
--Holly Knights' "Elixir," a trio set to music by saxophonist Joshua Redman.
--"Riccordo," a solo choreographed by Maggie Niamh Rupprect to a vocal performance by Andrea Boccelli.
--The trio "(In)sufficient Space," choreographed by Gretchen Alterowitz to Scriabin piano etudes, performed by Dance Department accompanist Lyle Juracek.
--Tom Truss dancing his solo "From Fall Comes Spring," set to music by Carsten Bo Eriksen and Martin Lohse.
--Marina Fukushima's large-ensemble piece "Reclamation," set to music by Karl Jenkins.
--Kristen Schifferdecker dancing her solo "Progress is a Comfortable Disease," set to music by Zero 7.
--The duet "Ivory Puppets," set to music by Fleetwood Mac by choreographer Alexis Deal.
--Dan Stark's "Life Love Death," a trio set to music by King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp, edited by Stark.
Admission will be $12 ($6 for UI students, senior citizens and youth).
Tickets may be purchased in advance from the University Box Office in the Iowa Memorial Union. In addition to window sales at the Iowa Memorial Union, the University Box Office may be reached by phone at 319-335-3041 or toll-free 800-346-4401. The fax number is 319-335-3407. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m Monday through Saturday and 5-9 p.m. Sunday. In addition to cash and checks, the University Box Office accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards.
Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the door.
North Hall is located at the north end of Madison Street on the UI campus. It is accessible from both Madison Street and the Anne Cleary Walk. Parking is available in the North Campus Parking Ramp.
The Dance Department is an academic unit of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
