Nutrition Expert To Speak On Finding Joy In God
University of Iowa nutrition expert Dr. Linda Snetselaar will speak on the joy of knowing God in her personal and professional life at the Finding God at Iowa Lunch Forum on Friday, November 5. The forum begins at noon in River Room #1 of the Iowa Memorial Union. It is free and open to the public.
Snetselaar received her PhD in Health Sciences Education from UI in 1983. She served as chair of the American Dietetics Association's Council on Research from 1993 to 1996 and was a member of the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee at this same time. She received the Women's Health Initiative Achievement Award for her work in the Diet Modification Study in 1996. She was given the Outstanding Alumni Award from UI Hospitals and Clinics Dietetic Internship in 1999. She received the College of Public Health Faculty Service Award in 2001.
Recently, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute honored her for her work on the Multi-Center Clinical Trials Study Section for her three years of service as a study section reviewer. She served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. She is the author of Nutrition Counseling Skills, one of first in her field. Recently, she completed a textbook on lifestyle change and its effect on chronic disease.
Snetselaar was the College of Public Health Distinguished Lecturer this fall and was recently elected the president of the College of Public Health Council.
The Finding God at Iowa Forum is a program of the Geneva Campus Ministry at the University of Iowa. It is designed to complement the well-known Geneva Lecture Series, which brings to UI to speak on a variety of topics from a Judeo-Christian perspective.
