K 2 Technologies Locates At UI's Technology Innovation Center

At its May meeting, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa approved a lease for K 2 Technologies as the newest tenant of the University of Iowa's Technology Innovation Center (TIC).

K 2 is a software consulting company specializing in e-commerce, Internet, and client/server technologies.

K 2 owns the Skills4U.com web site, and further development and marketing of this site will be its initial business activity at the Technology Innovation Center. Skills4U.com is an online matchmaker that connects information technology (IT) training buyers and service providers. It provides IT training services both for corporate customers and IT professionals by screening their requirements against training provider offerings for an optimal match. Skills4U.com was launched in September 2003 and currently has several hundred courses offered by major training vendors in all major IT markets in Iowa.

K 2 was co-founded by president and CEO Manoj Nagaraj of Coralville, who brings years of experience working in the software industry spanning different business verticals and technology platforms. Nagaraj, an MBA student at the UI's Tippie School of Management, received a master of science degree in engineering at the University of Texas-El Paso and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering at Bangalore University, India. He has 10 years of business, project management, software engineering and consulting experience with several fortune 500 companies in the Midwest. In addition to his K 2 Technologies position, he is co-founder and partner in a venture called Web Connections Limited, Bangalore, India.

" Our new venture has been in the planning stages for some time, and now we are excited about this opportunity to remain in Iowa and grow our own business," said Nagaraj.

The company's lease will be effective June 1 for Suite 27 in the Technology Innovation Center.

With the addition of K 2, the TIC will have 16 tenant companies. Since 1984, the TIC has accepted 81 technology startups. Twenty-nine companies have graduated from TIC upon achieving their business goals.
