Registration Underway For UI Alumni Reunion 2004

The University of Iowa Alumni Association is inviting alumni to see their favorite places and meet some friendly faces at the Alumni Reunion 2004, June 10-13, in Iowa City.

This year's reunion, sponsored in part by Oaknoll Retirement Residence, will honor graduates of the classes of 1964, 1959 and 1954 and all years prior, as well as the Medicine Class of 1949 and the Liberal Arts class of 1974. Registration continues for this event through May 28.

"The most important thing for an alumni reunion is to reconnect with classmates and with the campus," said Reunion Director Staci Valenta. "This year's reunion theme and the events we have planned will allow alumni to see old friends and remember the University."

Highlights of the "Favorite Places, Friendly Faces" reunion include Alumni College events, where alumni tour the campus throughout the weekend. On Friday, June 11, the Circle of Gold presentation during the All-Class Banquet will honor 50-year alumni. On Saturday, June 12, the Alumni Association will present the Distinguished Alumni Awards, the highest honor given to alumni and friends of the University. Several college activities are also planned including building tours, faculty presentations and dinners, to name a few.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Department of Health and Sports Studies will be marking its centennial celebration. Alumni will be able to see how the department has evolved over the past 100 years from the Physical Training for Women program in the early 1900s to the Health and Sports Studies program today.

Events for the reunion begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, and conclude at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 13. All alumni are invited to attend.

Housing for the reunion weekend will be available at several area hotels. Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) Ambassadors will be available to provide transportation for guests from their hotels to locations on campus.
