UI Clinical Staff Office Receives NCQA Certification For All Verification Services
Officials at the University of Iowa Clinical Staff Office (UI CSO) announced today they have been fully certified by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) for 11 out of 11 verification services. Organizations may be certified by all, some or none of the 11 credentials elements addressed in the NCQA Standards. These elements are:
-- Licensed to practice
Certification is not considered all-inclusive and pertains only to those elements reviewed as part of the NCQA CVO (credentials verification organization) certification process.
NCQA is an independent, non-profit organization that certifies credentials verification organizations (CVOs) and accredits managed care organizations MCOs). The NCQA certification process includes rigorous on-site evaluations conducted by a team of health care professionals and certified credential specialists. A national oversight committee of physicians analyzes the team's finding and determines certification based on the CVO's compliance with NCQA standards.
The UI CSO provides valuable credentialing verification services for the UI's academic medical center, area acute care hospitals, managed care organizations (MCOs), physician hospital organizations (PHOs) and independent insurance reviewers across the state of Iowa.
The UI CSO confirms practitioners are qualified to seek and/or maintain managed care plan participation or hospital privileges.
The on-site survey was conducted March 15-16, 2004, resulting in this NCQA re-certification, which is current through June 17, 2006. For more information about the UI CSO credentialing verification services, call 319-335-4671
"We are very pleased with the outcome of this survey. It takes every staff member working diligently every day to comply with the exacting standards of the NCQA. We are excited to know that the CSO has once again achieved this high level of performance and that we continue to serve UI Hospitals and Clinics and our other clients so reliably," said Deb Strabala, administrator of the UI CSO.
