Media Advisory: Briefing To Cover Several Athletics Topics
A briefing for members of the media and other special guests has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at the UI Athletics Hall of Fame at the northwest corner of Melrose Avenue and Mormon Trek Boulevard. Attendees will be provided information related to the topics listed below. Appropriate staff of the UI Athletic Department - including UI Director of Athletics Bob Bowlsby - will be available for comment.
* Herky on Parade - Herky on Parade is the public art program that has successfully taken the "Hawkeye spirit to the streets" in celebration of the 75th anniversary of historic Kinnick Stadium. Attendees will be briefed on the program's progress to date and the next exciting phase of the "Parade."
* The Patch - The Patch is a merchandise program that provides friends of the University of Iowa an opportunity to participate in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of historic Kinnick Stadium in addition to a wide variety of other varsity sport programs at the UI. Attendees will learn how the University of Iowa has "painted black and gold" a successful program it was first introduced to when the Iowa football team advanced to the 2003 FedEx Orange Bowl.
* The Throwback Game - The "Throwback Game" is the name given to the University of Iowa football team's game against Kent State on Saturday, Sept. 4, at historic Kinnick Stadium. Attendees will learn how the University of Iowa will "turn back the college football clock" for this year's season opener including the official unveiling of the uniforms to be worn by the Hawkeyes and Golden Flashes on game day.
A light lunch will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. An RSVP to the UI Sports Marketing Office (319-335-9431) by Wednesday, June 30, is not required but would be greatly appreciated. The following UI Athletic Department staff will be in attendance during the lunch hour should you have an interest in visiting with any regarding the projects noted.
* Terry Anderson - Topic: The renovation of Finkbine Golf Course.
